At least I get 12 months worth this time.

When I stopped at the border to import my stuff, the tax rozers made me buy a Vignette. For the 18 days of 2011 that were actually left.
But the Vignette you bought was valid from 1.12.2011 until 31.01.2012, yes it is actually valid 14 months!

Everybody, you must have the year 2012 Vignette before you drive on the autobahn tomorrow.

The police will be waiting this week at the autobahn exits! I think the fine is now CHF 200,-- for not displaying a 2012 vignette. (GAS) petrol stations sell them.

When you have a fleet of cars - keeping on top of which one has the vignette and which ones don't is entertaining!

Boeing and Airbus should stick aircraft together from the stuff they put on the back of the Swiss Autobahn Vignette.

It's indestructible.

It took 40 minutes, a Stanley Knife and a lot of swearing before I could finally remove the entire 2006 version from the car window.

Go on - someone tell me they sell "Vignette Remover" at Migros.
This thread is almost as stupid as: How to post a letter???

You say that...but they still gave me a 2011 vignette. Sounds like I got screwed...

In the very old days the glue was very strong, you needed to cut it off and dissolve the rest of the glue with acetone.

Got ours some weeks ago, so I'm not worried, but I must say I've never noticed such a police presence at the (Basel/St. Louis) motorway border in previous years, and I cross most days.

Yes, you got screwed. If you have the receipt you should be able to go back and complain. Vignettes for the following year are available and valid from Dec 1st of the previous year.

The exit at the Badisher Bahnhof is notorious for having police controls during the first week of February.

Sure enough, like clockwork. Four police vans this morning and a bunch of cars pulled over as they exited the motorway.

Politely: anywhere on the frame of the bike, (away from any hot spots)

You need one for any trailer as well.

Re: Swiss Autobahn Vignette (removal)

And it must be stuck on the windscreen .. my car has a little clip for clipping parking tickets etc on the windscreen and a couple of years ago, I just slipped it into the clip .. and sometime that year was stopped going through a border and clearly informed that it must be stuck on to be valid, although luckily was let off the fine.

Re: Swiss Autobahn Vignette (removal)

The 2011 vignettes I had on the 2 cars I have came off very easily, almost in 1 piece. Just left a hair dryer on them for a couple of minutes before gently peeling them off. No residue.

just hit the windshield with a large hammer and then have it replaced every year, or stick the new one over the old one from the outside every year. Both should work.

Re: Swiss Autobahn Vignette (removal)

To save the pain of getting tiny slivers of it stuck behind my nail, I use one of those scrapers that you use for cleaning stuff ceramic hobs. Then a quick wipe over with some acetone gets any remaining bits and the goo off and you're good for the next one

Re: Swiss Autobahn Vignette (removal)

I've bought one of these vignettes as I'm planning to drive in Switzerland as part of a holiday this summer.

But I wasn't sure whether it should be fixed on the right or left of the windscreen. The car is from the UK, and so right-hand drive. Can I just put it far away from on the left-hand side?
