Airport Taxi [Zurich]

I tried the search function, but struggled to find an answer.

Can anyone reccomend a taxi firm to get me from the Oerlikon area to Zurich airport this sunday??

I would go by public transport, but i have a bike bag along with my luggage, and i dont want to have to deal with it if the weather is anything like what it is at the moment.

Also, any rough idea on the cost?

Thanks

Re: Airport Taxi [Zurich]

Seriously, the train is quicker and cheaper, even with luggage.

But if you insist I believe about 70 CHFS from airport to Zurich.

Re: Airport Taxi [Zurich]

Try your local yellow pages and make some calls.

There used to be a fixed price form the airport to the city for 50chf, may be more now.

Our local company in Affoltern am Albis does a fixed price to or from the airport for 75chf. This is several times the distance you need to travel.

Also make sure they have space for your bike etc...

Recommend a taxi firm? What's wrong with
044/ 222 22 22
044/444 44 44
044/777 77 77?
Just specify you have a bike along, so need an extralarge trunk/boot.

OTOH, if you have some time left (couple of hours), consider checking in the bike first, then head back home and grab the other luggage.
Or put the luggage into one of the lockers and head back for the bike.
After all, from Oerlikon Bhf. there's a train about every 7 minutes to the airport, ride is what? 5 minutes?.

Re: Airport Taxi [Zurich]

Also, from Oerlikon any estimate of CHF 70 is way off. You're looking at maybe half of that since you're already pretty close to the airport.

What do you mean by "bike bag"? Do you mean a bag containing your bike or one of those saddlebag type things that hang over the rear wheel?

As you probably already know, using the train from Oerlikon to the airport is great if you only have 1 or 2 pieces of normal-sized luggage. However, if you have oversized bags or bikes this quickly becomes a pain in the backside.

Re: Airport Taxi [Zurich]

As a guide, we got a taxi from the airport to Oerlikon last week; it cost 35 CHF for 4 passengers (i'm not sure if they charge extra per person or for huge amounts of luggage). From station-to-station, the train might've been quicker, but the taxi was quicker for getting us to our front door. Hope this helps!

Re: Airport Taxi [Zurich]

What you can do is this...
Take the train and Go check in the night before your departure.
This way on the day of departure, you will only have your carry-on luggage.

Re: Airport Taxi [Zurich]

I took a train to from oerlikon to airport a few weeks ago for 35chf too.

Its only 3 minutes on the train though so i'd recommend to struggle on with that and then stick the bike on a trolley at the airport station platform.
