Funnily enough I went to Luxembourg yesterday.
What a cute little useless town: can you tell me what I missed and why you want to go there?

Disclaimer: it was August 15th and most things were closed, plus I visited the Modern Art museum (www.mudam.lu) and it was really nice. So all in all not a bad experience. But sure it looks like a bit like Bern to me.

How long is the drive up to Lux?

While I cant go this weekend it is a trip that I may think of taking in a couple of weeks time - I used to travel there with my parents as a kid and loved the country

According to Google Maps it is about 4.5 hrs:

It took me 2hrs from Brussels

It takes somewhere between 4-5 hours to drive for Luxembourg. Be aware of speed near Metz, Thionville and Strassbourg. The stretch going form north of Strassbourg to about Metz is not having any speed cameres, however going back one Sunday I spotted a Subaru Impreza belonging to the French policy at one of the emergency exits.

In Luxembourg there is plently of things to see but the actual city is about one weekend to see it all:

- See the EU buildings on Kirchberg
- Place d'Arme and Grand Rue
- Grund and Clausen area (basically the valley around Lux centre ville)

Outside Lux city:

- Grevenmacher
- Vianden
- Esch sur Sure
- Clearvaux

There are plenty of museums in Lux city as well, with the MUDAM being the newest one.

I am most likely going again in a few weeks. The reason for going is that I came to Switzerland from Lux where I normally live.
