| | | Anyone know a good small VW garage, Zurich area?
My ancient 1988 Golf Cabrio is giving problems again - I suspect a cracked exhaust manifold ... which would mean big buck$ to fix at local garages which I have used in the past (when I was a contractor and earning the big bucks, and didn't care). The Abgas protocol is up, so I have to bite the bullet soon.
I'm looking for a decent small VW Garage in the Zurich area, ideally one that specialises in older models. Anyone know of such? I might be leaving CH in the relatively near future so I don't want to spend a fortune on a car that I'll be getting rid of soon.
Also, whilst on the subject, anyone know of a Golf owners club in Switzerland? I've only been able to find details of a Beetle club.

Jack | | | | | Cheers - I'll give them a visit. They seem pretty good (from the website) and could be just what I need to keep my 18 year old VW on the road, without busting my bank account.

Just to follow up, I finally got around to getting the car looked at and they did a very good job.
There was loads of work that could have been done (costing thousands) but they explained what really _needed_ to be done (costing quite a bit less). The required work was done quickly and to a good standard.
They were certainly the first garage that I've tried here where I didn't feel that I was being taken for a ride. (I'd actually developed a bit of a phobia about taking the car to garages because every time I've done so it's cost me much more than I had expected.)
So - thanks for your recommendation and I can add an endorsement of my own.

| | | Anyone know a good Renault garage?
Dear Forum,
My girlfriend's aging Renault will no longer go to the main dealer. Any garage suggestions for the Dubendorf/Uster area greatly appreciated.

John | | | | | Are you looking for Renault garage, or a garage in general? You might want to start a new thread - this the subject of this thread is to look for a VW garage!

I've used Bermuda Garage near Limmatplatz a few times with both VWs and Renaults; the chaps there speak English, love cars of all ages and makes and best of all are honest!

If you know that is the problem then, DIY at the DIY garage in Oerlikon. Ubiquitous VW exhausts from 3rd parties should not be that expensive...

Jenatschstrasse, just off General Guison-Quai (the road that runs along the river from Bellevue to Enge).
Very good service, small and friendly and an official VW garage (also does Audi).

| | | Anyone know a good small VW garage close to Lausanne?
Hello, very recently I got this old golf of 96 without too much attention , and just realized now that it takes Swarzeneger to shift gears. (I have it on the road for less than a week. I did not insist on some form of warranty for this guy seemed genuine, and all was so fine by him!).Any one have an idea where I could take it or any useful advice? Not to mention that if I stooped that low it was because the pockets are only half filled.
Thanks all for your kind attention

Usually an oil change for the gearbox does the trick ... if there's nothing too critical. I would strongly suggest though to have the car serviced in Germany for non critical issues, it's far cheaper and quite close from Zurich.

| | | English Speaking Garage Zurich
Hello I'm coming over to Zurich with my car in a few weeks.
It's a permanent move. At some stage I might need some work doing on my car. It's a VW Golf. Does anyone know a good reliable trustworthy English speaking garage that could help me if required?
Thanks

Thanks | | | | | If you are bringing the car it would be worth getting it serviced and checked before you come, it will be cheaper and you will have enough on your mind moving here without worrying about the car.
