Taxi

Hello, hope i am in the right section with this.

Does anyone know how much a taxi would be from Luzern to Zurich airport? Just need a rough idea, would be well appreciated.

I need to know as i have an early morning flight on thursday, but the train is cutting it to close with the check-in time.

Thanks
Mike.

Re: Taxi

Hi Mike,
I took a taxi from Zurich to Horgen a couple of times
in a tipsy state, and it cost me about 90 CHF. My guess
is that it would cost around 150CHF. You could ask a taxi
driver though.

I am going to have that same problem in a couple
of weeks.

Good luck,
Grant

Re: Taxi

270 Fr. I guess, if you don't agree on a price before the ride. Just ask the driver and he'll probably offer a price 10-25% below that.

Re: Taxi

Thanks a lot, it's just to let my company know if there willing to cough up for paying for a taxi or not. I was thinking in the region of Fr. 150-200.

Very helpful, much appreciated.

Re: Taxi

I've heard catching a taxi back from Zurich would be in the region of 200-300 CHF, but that's after missing the last train. If you call a cab company, they might do you a deal, but it prob still won't be cheap.

Although your train may be cutting it close to check in time, you can be pretty sure it won't be late, and the station is right in the airport.

Problem is i get in at 0615 with the train and the check in closes at 0625, if i miss the plane, i won't be able to get another flight as i have to catch that one as i have a whole day of travelling just to get to a ship. I do reckon i would make it no problem, but i'm not sure if my company want to chance that. I wouldn't mind missing the plane, another 4 weeks at home. hehe.

Thanks for the information though.

Why don't you get a cheaper taxi ride from Luzern to Zug and take the first train out from there direct to the airport which will put you there for a more comfortable 05.56.

Re: Taxi

You can also google "Flughafentaxi Luzern" and you might find a local for-hire car service that is cheaper than the regular cab. We got one of those around where I live and prices are quite reasonable (by Swiss standards).

For example:

quote request form on Web site

http://www.limogate.ch/D6_Preise_Schweiz.htm
Luzern > Zurich CHF 220

HTH.

Re: Taxi

Cheaper than a taxi might be a hotel room near the airport. Also gives you a more leisurely and surer start.

Why not call the local taxi firm and get a quote?

Wont it be easier for you to check-in online and then drop of your luggage when you arrive? If it is a swiss flight, you can check-in at the airport a day before that way, you can still make the train journey if you want to without the hassle of rushing and logging your bags at that time of the day

Re: Taxi

You can check-in at many rail stations:
http://mct.sbb.ch/mct/en/reisemarkt/...ck/flyrail.htm
(Not available for all airlines. Verify list at URL below.)

"Check in your baggage the day before takeoff at the railway station. At the same time, you’ll also receive your boarding card complete with seat assignment. This gives you more time on the day of departure. And ensures a more leisurely start to your trip – without having to haul your bags to the airport or wait at the check-in counter."

You've got more courage than I have!
Not only because you risked missing the flight, but I wouldn't want to take the risk of EFers thinking twice about answering a question from me in the future.

This is but cold comfort. I'll probably land up with a groan for this, but I know how I feel sometimes when I look up links etc...
