how to get rid of a dead car in geneva?

My wife and I bought a pretty beat-up 89 peugot super-cheap when we first got here. Now the car is dead, it won't start, it's got a bunch of other things wrong with it, basically worth less than nothing. I know I have to take the plates back and get the registration annulled to cancel the insurance. My question is, what do I do to get rid of the car itself? Is there some kind of disposal service? I assume if I leave it on the street with no plates it will be ticketed, towed, etc, and I want to cancel the insurance ASAP. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Talk to your local community office. Each one normally has a depot responsible for the disposal of all things like foam, paper, oil, cars.... It will probably cost you a fee, but at least if will probably be fair.

Surprise - like in other civilised countries, you just take it (or have it taken) to the auto junkyards.

Ask a friend to tow your old car and drive it at the demolition in Satigny. You need to pay 150 chf i think.

At the same location posted above, you can visit the junk yard and dismantle what you can. At a cost of course.
