Child in 2-seater car

Hi

I seem to recall reading somewhere that small children (my son < 3) can't be transported in the front.

Anybody know what the situation is if the car only has 2 seats? Airbag of course deactivated, and he's in the car manufacturers own baby seat specifically designed for the car.

It has been fine in UK but who knows in Switz...
