I am planing to do MOT just before i leave the UK and then get the car back here before the MOT expires. Hence the car would be legal to drive in he UK and Europe. I insure it also just before I leave.
But you say: "You will however have to jump through hoops to pass the safety tests here. " - does it mean my car has to go via a safety test when I enter Switzerland? would the UK MOT 9safewty test) not suffice?

No, you will only have to do the safety here if you import the car. Once it is road legal in the UK you can take it here and drive it for 1 year without a problem. (Unless its a TVR!)
