Re: day ticket question

Yes it also includes trams, buses and ships.

However it does not include the mountain Lifts and Some trains like Glacier Express and Jungfraubahn.

It includes some mountain lifts, others it gives you half price such as Jungfraubahn. As for Glacier Express, Bernina Express etc, these are only certian trians. Other trains run at different times on EXACT same route, stop in the same place but they are not Glacier express. The Glacier Express has very nice panoramic non-opening windows, air condioning etc and a LOT of people on board. The other trains tend to be a bit older, far les people, you usualy have 4 seat to share between 2 people and the windows open.

The big thing about open windows is for photography, the photos are far superior, whatever camer you use than taking through glass windows, not to menion you don't pay the Sfr 30.-- supplement..........each way !

Possible but unlikely, there is not so many people on board usually, the Swiss don't do this, the mumble under their breath (it can be fun to listen), they are quite often busy taking photos themselves and if all fails, just re-open the window, it's just a question of establishing a principle of who is in charge !

There should be plenty of other trains. The Glacier Express runs between once and four times a day, depending on the season (there are even days in the off season that it doesn't run at all). The regular service is hourly. This may involve chnaging trains though, and you miss out on the ultra-nice dining car. But otherwise it gets you there just as well as the Glacier Express.

Check again then. They are not all Glacier Express trains. On the real GE train you have to pay supplement of Sfr 30.-- on all others, no supplement, believe me, i've done GE 3 times in last 2 years, as recently as July 09

Re: day ticket question

I don't recommend the Glacier Express panorama wagon in summer. With a glass roof it was so warm and we were all dripping with sweat. Next time i'd go from the train with the windows that open.

A friend of mine loved the panorama carriage. Thought it was great to be able to look at the inside roof of so many tunnels!

Re: day ticket question

mmm, Maybe I am looking wrong...I have check direct trains between Chur and Zermatt. Is this the GE, am I correct? If then, when I go to sbb and I type these options doesn't give me any other trains apart of teh GE.

We made the trip in Winter, in February. We managed to catch a sunny day in February, and we were sweating even at that time! And the sun reflecting off the snow was too much, especially since we had forgotten to take our sunglasses along!

Re: day ticket question

As amogles said, the direkt trains from Chur to Zermatt are, it seems, the Glacier Express.

There are certainly other trains to Zermatt though - but coming from Chur you would have to change two or three times.

Somebody should inform the dear Swiss lady we encountered (I would say "met", but it seems a bit strong when no words were exchanged) on the Golden Pass Express.

She boarded in Meiringen, on a sunny 27-degree day, and immediately proceeded to close her window, our window - momentarily unguarded as we'd gotten up to look at the view across the aisle - and every other undefended window in the carriage, then went and sat down looking pleased with herself.

Ancraophobic cow.

Re: day ticket question

Then, you re-opened them?
and she shut them?
and you re-opened them?
and she shut them?
And then you opened them again and she asked:
"what do you think you are playing at?"
And you said
"Oh, didn't you notice? We're playing draughts!"

If she boarded in Meiringen then it wasn't the Glacier Express.
