When we move to Vaud in June, we will be bringing our Honda 50cc scooter. What is the import/registration procedure? The second question is about licenses. My son is 17 and has been driving the scooter here in Italy since he was 14. He has the Italian 50cc license, but I suspect that will not be transferable to Switzerland. He obviously wants to get mobile asap after our arrival and would like to know about licenses, e.g. how should he go about getting one and how long will it take?

For your scoot - what make and model is it? Hardest thing might be emissions-testing but you could contact a local dealer and see what's what.

Part will depend on how the scooter is classified - either as a cyclomoteur or as a moto. In Italy it is only homologue for one rider - hence not a biplace, so may not be category A. On the other hand, I can not find a definition of a 'cyclomoteur' for category M. With a 50cc engine, ouput is 3.9kW and Power: Weight is just 0.05 kW/kg.
