So I've been thinking of getting a used moped here in Lugano. Can someone help me out? What brands are there, what to the locals refer to them as etc.. and what is a good price for a used one in rideable condidtion? Also what are the license requirements. I have a California DL that allows me to ride a moped. I will be converting it to a Swiss license soon. Any help would be great.

Don't know what their called in italian.

But in the german part of swiss, MOFA.

Makes are, PUCH, CIAO( or something similar), SACHS.

My kids had a sachs and puch,they both lasted years and were very reliable.

A really good used one should cost no more than 600Frs, but you can pick up ones from as little as 100Frs.

Regarding licence, don't need one, but you must have the correct paperwork for the mofa,and you must buy the insurance sticker in the post office or at the traffic control office.

Look in the local supermarkets at the adverts always for sale there, or in the local freebie magazines.
