I have a car still in the UK which I want to bring over. Car is an Alfa 147 2.0. Its needs tyres before it travels over europe so may as well get winter ones. Being in the UK means ideally it needs them fitting before it leaves, I've had a real quick look online to see what I might need and whats suitable.
The wheel/tyre size is around 17 x 45 x 215, I found these here but not sure if they're proper winter tyres...
Remember to consider fuel economy, especially if you're schlepping long distance on a frequent basis. Tyres which cost a bit more usually end up paying for themselves
All rubber is expensive here, and UM has a point on economy. I would consider getting another set of summers fitted in the UK, but buy a set of winters to, if you have space to transport them over here. Drive over on the summers, have the winters put on when you get here, and ask the tyre place to store the summers for you. It only cost us 30 chf to get ours stored ready for swapping when the weather changes . The Continentals for my car are 20% more expensive here than the UK

How heavy would four winter tyres be? Considering a moustache costs £5.00 a year to drive around in extra fuel use...
