Apologies if already posted, but Easyjet are introducing Zurich - Manchester flights as of the end of April 2010.

Competition on this route is sorely needed.

IMO, the new MAN-ZRH on Easyjet is a great route if VFR are coming over to CH and don't have C-in Bags.


But watch it.
The costs clock up as the Easy Website bolts on bits you never asked for.

Example:

2 adults + 2 kids + 2 bags + Booking by Credit Card, remembering to Cancel the Insurance the Website puts on and adjusting the baggage = 590 CHF Total Rtn

4 x 51.95 CHF ZRH-MAN 1045-1140hrs
4 x 73.32 CHF MAN-ZRH 0720-1010hrs
2 x bags @ 36 CHF
21 CHF Credit Card fee if you don't have Visa Electron or Visa Debit Card
Total 590 CHF.

Note, ugly 0720uhr departure time MAN-ZRH.
Not fun travelling with kids...

So I guess Swiss will selectively reprice their MAN-ZRH inventory to try and divert Easy business.
MAN-ZRH was a Monopoly and now there's a new kid in town...

Nothing is left of those routes except some Codeshares with FlyBE and their Dash 8 Turboprops.
Not quite the Business Person's choice of aircraft. It takes 2+ hours to get to Frankfurt!

Wow, I am paying CHF 200.- every six weeks for my lad to fly back for orthodontist treatment, with Swiss air.

He will now be able to get there for less than CHF 100.-!!!!

I just realised that Easyjet cancelled one direction of my flight from Manchester to Zurich. As I couldn't find any more information on the homepage, I contacted the customer service.

They informed me, that they will stop doing this route by the end of March 2012.

I will fly with Swiss again for 185 CHF ...

Please do look out for the 99chf return flights with Swiss they sometimes have.

Oh MAN, that really sucks. I guess there wasn't enough demand?

I use the ZRH-MAN easyjet flights every couple of months to visit family in Liverpool. In my experience the flight is always pretty full. Only once in the two years I've been using it has it been relatively (50% empty). Real shame that they're cancelling it.

I use it regularly and usually pretty full flights. Bad news for us.

I did overhear cabin crew discussing where they will be relocating to, on my flight last week which may or may not be connected. Not had any of my existing bookings cancelled but have had changes from T3 to T1 (MAN) for February.

Ah typical. They cancelled Basle Liverpool which was always full whenever I flew, and now this one. Ive been able to fly to Manchester every couple of months because of the low price and the good times they have, and again has always been pretty full. What a shame. would be nice if they introduced Zurich - Liverpool.

Well, yes, Swiss pricing on ZRH-MAN did become more competitive, once Sleazy started the same route. So lets see what happens to Swiss prices once Sleazy stops flying that route. Expect it to rise by 50SFr each way perhaps?

Instead of ranting on a forum, how about we all bitch at Easyjet instead? I remember they used to have their flights every other day rather than every day, maybe if they took out the Tuesday and Thursday flights (or Monday and Wednesday, whatever), the other planes would be at fuller? A friend of mine has reported being on planes only filled to 50%, so the full flights everyone is talking about may only be at weekends?

Not once Easyjet shut up shop on MAN-ZRH...

Ahhhh anyone know why easy jet have stopped there flights from manchester to zurich from the end of march???

We come every few months to visit, apart from swiss aire is there any other economy flights to Zurich, or basel???
