By the by, what does this have to do with consumer rights ?

You bought a car, which had a warranty period, the warranty period finished the car now needs work doing on it and you are hoping the warranty will cover this. How long should the warrant last for ?

Maybe you should have had it professionaly checked out by TCS or a VW garage before the warranty ran out.

Maybe read before you post

19 days is less then 12 months is it not.
Go and try being all nice, then change your tone, then threaten, if no luck walk away screaming so everyone in the lot has heard you, then post online more and more.

Then find yourself a nice and cheap garage (not a dealer) be nice to the guys (make sure you are informed off all thats involved in the repair, look it up if you need to to know whats involved in changing the alternator) become a loyal costumer at said small garage if you are happy with the service and DO NOT PAY 1000 chf to change a damned alternator when they cost much less.

Thats what i would do

Re: Consumer rights when buying a car from a dealer?

Unless you have specifically signed a contract stating no warrenty then you have warrently, the period varies but unless the seller (even private sellers) specifically write "as is where is" on the sale contract/receipt or the German equivilent you are covered. See Garages, Car repairs the good, the bad and the ugly it may help.

Re: Consumer rights when buying a car from a dealer?

Hi All,

Posting here after a long time. Now in a bit of a sticky situation and need some advice.

I recently brought a car from a dealer and paid cash. I had not yet picked up the car as the title needed to be transferred. I then took the Grey card to the strassenverkehrsamt for title transfer and was informed that the car I had purchased was a car that was previously used as a driving instructor car. In fact they needed to inspect the car before the would transfer title to be sure that there are no controls on the passenger side.

I have now gone back to this dealer asking for full refund of my money as this critical information was not given to me before i agreed to buy the car. But the dealer has refused and basically says that he was not obliged to reveal this information to me. Any advice? Not sure what is covered in Swiss law about such a situation. If anyone has any such experience, would be of great help. Thanks for any advice.
