Hello everybody!

I'm new in Switzerland, I just moved here from Bucharest (RO).
After driving 1560 km, my car looks like ****. I tried the "self-service" car-wash but it didn't work as per my expectation. The rims are still dirty on the interior and the drying system from automatic car-wash is not very performant.
Does anybody now if I can find a good (maybe manual) car wash in Lausanne?

I use the service located in the carpark of the Leman Centre in Crissier (the one with the Coop Hypermarket). They do a fantastic job, much better than the DIY places.

They are very good. They started in Ge, then now opened the shop in Lsne as well. Price is not cheap but I found it is reasonable, as they really clean your car very well!

How much does the one in Leman Centre cost? I've got a brand new car, so looking for a place where I could get it nice and shiny without getting any scratches on that pristine paint finish.

Finally, I checked today the prices at the carwash in Leman Centre.
100 CHF (int. & ext). Waaay to expensive for what is supposed to be. It's not a nuclear weapon maintenance, it's JUST a car wash.
I did it myself for just 10 CHF (cost of coins). I also bought wet tissues, a piece of natural leather and a glass cleaner from bricolage and I did a really great job in a normal car wash.

Well done Adi86. I've only had them do the exterior which I think was around 35CHf. And they did a really great job. I use them mostly in the winter when the car gets filthy from the snow and salt, and when it's too miserable to be outside weilding one of those giant brushes.

In Romania there are only manual car washes, excepting the brushes from fuel stations. If you go there for many times, as long as you wait for the car to be ready, you learn all the secrets on how to wash your car carefully, quite professional I may say.. And of course, when there's someone else doing the job instead of you, there's plenty of time to watch and to discover all the missed "hot spots" where you should insist on when you personally wash it. I think I'll make a hobby out of this.

Ottos sells a spray that you use on the rims - inside and out. Cuts through the disk dust that really sticks on the rims. Other stores might also sell a similar spray. Then the self wash spray cleans the rims well.

Since the rainy days are here (very soon snow will fall) I just wanted to ask what products you use for washing the car after driving on wet/snowy roads.

For example, I spend a lot of time in the self-service car wash but I couldn't find any of it where they have "active" foam/shampoo. Sometimes the foam (pre-wash) is just inefficient. After finishing washing I still have a lot of sludge/dirt down on the door panels. I was trying to leave the foam settle on the car for couple of minutes but still...no result.

Suggestions? (anything but using the brushes, at least there they do have efficient foam)

I am searching for a jet car wash around Lausanne too, possibly with wax? Any suggestions? The ones you spray foam and than you rinse with water? If they don't have wax solutions I can do it myself...

The car wash I was using in Lausanne is located on the crossroad of Av. de Morges and Rue de Geneve, on your left if you drive from direction Flon. They used to have liquid wax (good one).

I'd be interested to know about the liquid wax as well. So far I have never used it and always just skipped that part of the programme.

You just switch the buttons on the machine, following the numbers. The last one is the wax. You just spray it on your car with the same hose you were using for the water. It leaves a nice shine, it's nice.

The elephant blue in av de Morges is indeed nice.

Liquid wax gives a nice gloss and helps on keeping the water (if raining, snowing) off the car, therefore the mud won't stick for a longer time. On top, the water will easily drain once you finish.

In french it's called "cire liquide", you should normally find it at the last position of the switch/button.

I spray it everywhere. After finishing, I use the jet again (clean water) to remove the stains (the wax is a bit white - like milk). That's it!

In my car's manual it's written not to wax or polish the lights, but I guess that goes for hand polishing and waxing, which probably is very different than just waxing with the jet. What I'd like to have a is more protection from the salt they have been putting on the streets lately,wax can do it, probably this one from the jet as well as the hand applied one. Well, the hand applied one can last up to a year with the jet wax probably a month but it's still worth it.
