Um, maybe not here in CH, but in the States, I owned a factory VOlvo Turbo (244 model) sedan that did indeed have an air to air intercooler.
Over here - they normall scavenge the parts from the 760 and it bolt straight on - takes the power from 155ps to 180ps. Which makes it quite sprightly - once you have passed the substantial lag!

Re: Need Help with Non-Stock Parts on my Audi (to pass 2nd Test)

Ok, I coincidentally went to AMAG today and when I was asking tons of questions in order to prevent to get shafted too heavily (probably futile...) I asked them on the wheels and stuff (I have some S-Line parts on mine myself and was curious on the OEM parts from other models question):

- In Switzerland, the manufacturer of a part has to guarantee that his parts fit a car and are not dangerous...
- In the case of the Audi parts you have on yours, Audi has done this for the models they were from.
- Audi will very likely not give you anything saying that A8 brakes are safe on an A4 as well. We all know they are, but the process to get them homologated is costly and they do not do this for fun (or very rare cases).
- If your rims were from an S4, but the same rims were sold on A4s as an extra, you do not need any paper work at all. I have some that were on the S models, but sold as "S line" options for the common people
- If they were S4 specific, you lost. No chance - except of a "Einzelabnahme" which is so costly that you probably can buy several sets of "S4 style" rims looking identically but made by other manufacturers and homologated for your car...

Sorry, Switzerland is simply not the right country to customize cars...

It is if you know the "right" changes to make, and the right paperwork to have.

On the flipside you can have whatever the hell you want for a colour scheme

... and the money to do so, as the Swiss "right" pretty much automatically translates into a lot of CHF.

As long as it is black. (Henry Ford would love the taste of the population of Zurich)

hey Toronto, where'd you get the muffler rattle fixed? I have a similar probloem, but the guy said it was the gear box which would be silly expensive in Switzerland. I can ship it to LA for EUR 1500 with insurnace and rive it to a friend, and get a used transmission for cheap or not at all. thoughts?

Also, any other good Audi mechanices? Bermuda is kind of useless when it comes to Audis. The Strassen people said there was a noise in the gearbox and Bermuda had no clue what it was.
You may want to give those guys a try: www.auto-waibel.ch

They're not an official Audi dealer but they specialize in VWs and Audis. I've never dealt with them myself but I've heard that they're pretty good with older VWs and Audis that most official dealers aren't really interested in anymore.

Given the rather crappy original brakes of the A4, the A8 brakes are probably much safer.

But that would be common sense and you won't get very far with that at the Strassenverkehrsamt...

Unless you're able and willing to shell out tons of money.
