Travel between Geneva & Nyon

Hi all,

I plan to live in Nyon and work in Geneva. Now I have a "Unireso ABO annuel Tout Geneve" which (I guess) I can travel in Geneva but not to Nyon.
Could you recommend the cheapest way for me to travel between these two places? I can use bicycle for short length travel, but I think I still need to take a train for traveling between two cities. Is there some annual registration plans like the "Unireso ... Tout Geneve" which I hold? Can I "upgrade" my current "abonnement" to include the nyon area? Thank you very much.

I think that's possible - the easiest way to find out the best option is just to ask the usually friendly & competent CFF agents at one of the counters.

Re: Travel between Geneva & Nyon

Yes, Nyon is outside the Unireso zones, even the newly expanded zone 21 (although be aware that some of the neighboring villages of Nyon are included in zone 21 if that helps). Best to go the the CFF counter and get a yearly pass with direct point-to-point travel Geneve-Nyon. If you need Nyon city or Geneva city transport as well, then this will be more expensive and may or may not be able to be included in the CFF pass. Best to check with CFF first and explain your route.

Re: Travel between Geneva & Nyon

157 CHF per month for 2nd class. That gets you unlimited travel from Geneve Gare to Nyon in both directions. It covers the rail only (not any Unireso transit) and assumes that you already have the 1/2-card.

Edit: Annual is 1413 CHF.
