We normally drive there as there is a huge parking space next to the stadium.
We could park the car even during the Swiss Open + As Roma match.
It takes some time to get out of the parking house at the end but it is very well organized. The stadium is next to the highway.
Your son is going to be very tired and you would have to park the car anyway in Zürich at the Bahnhof.
One vote for car!

They run trains from the stadium to the SBB these days too - so this is another option. He reckons you would just about make it, but it would be tight - if it's busy then it can take 15 mins seat to tram, then 15 mins on the tram... so you should just about make it.
He says driving to the stadium itself is not really an option - there's no decent nearby parking and the roads around the stadium itself are all closed. But it is an option to park somewhere down the line of the number 14 tram - so to find a spot in a white/blue zone in Muttenz, somewhere near the tram, from which it's about a half hour tram ride (in the opposite direction than town so fewer people going that way.) | |
