I am think of going boarding in August just as an introduction with a couple of young beginners from Zürich. Nothing too dangerous and cable car or easy drag... Anyone got any suggestions ? All I can think of are Titlis and Zermatt at the moment...

Zermatt for pistes - the glacier is very easy and very appropriate for beginners.

Saas Fee is good too, maybe a tad more challenging. Also has snow park which I guess you're not interested in yet

My wife and I spent part of our honeymoon at Saas Fee in October last year, and the snow quality on the glacier was fantastic. A word of warning on the drag front though: if my memory serves, the area that was open at that time was only serviced by 3 T-bars, with 2 of them being the only way back up to the lift station to get down to the village again.

Complete beginners may find these drags quite a challenge, plus the queues were pretty long. In the last week of October we were having to wait 15min each time to get on the drag; if you've had to do that and then fall half way up and have to go back and join the queue...I can see that getting pretty frustrating! If they're not absolute newbies and have already mastered T-bars then they should be fine. The pistes are nice and wide and perfect for improving on.

In fact neither Titlis nor Glacier 3000 (Les Diablerets) are open for summer skiing. Zermatt and Saas Fee are probably the best options in Switzerland.

I agree with ISE, most of the summer ski areas have stopped operating. Titlis and Laax I know don't do summer anymore (or at least didn't last year). We went to Zermatt to do some summer boarding and it fairly good. The pistes are good and wide, but it is only pull lifts that operate, and just like Saas Fee you have to get the lift back up to the top to get the cable car back down to the town.

Also you need to get up at the crack of dawn to get the cable car, it takes nearly an hour to get up to the ski area, and you can only board/ski until 1pm. Its a morning only activity.

Having said that, it is kinda cool to go snowboarding in a t-shirt, and the conditions were surprisingly good.
