I prefer to rent a car and in 3 hours be comfty in Milano, instead 6hours trip, 2 broken trains, hours waiting without any information, and delays delays delays... As regular user of cisalpino had tooo many this kind of experience, I think my patience is really gone, NEVER cisalpino again. They should ban this train

Foodies, if you happen to be in Milan and fancy some Sri Lankan "buffet", give Lucky Seven a go. http://www.autosrilanka.com/luckyseven/index2.htm
I am biased ( was free for me as is for any birthday boy / gal ).

I am making this trip in a few weeks and as someone who clearly has done this frequently, I was wondering whether you could let me know how close to on-time this train usually arrives in Milan? Mine leaves around 4 in the afternoon from Zurich.
Thanks!
Brett | | | | | i've been to and from milan around 12 times and not a single train was on time! closest was this weekend when it arrived in milan a mere 20 minutes late.

I must have been very fortunate then, with my trains ( both the Eurocity and the S10 TILO ) never having been late for more than 10 minutes since 2009. The additional delay might be attributed to the customs checks at Chiasso station, where the southern end is patrolled by the Italians.
Via the Domodossola route to Milano Centrale, at most 10 minutes delay and that was once within the last 12 months.

Is there a way to get these specials via notification by email? I remember
a previous version of the sbb.ch web site that had a login page on the
first page. Now I can't even find out where to log in anymore.

Perhaps by having an account with SBB TicketShop ? Even then, some deals escape their newsletters and emailshots. https://www.sbb.ch/en/ticketshop/b2c/
Click at the bottom of the screen ( on mine, it says My Acccount )
But EF can be pretty efficient too

out of interest, does anyone know of a way to buy the return ticket from milan to zurich hb in milan without queueing up at the ticket office?
i tried the fast ticket machines, but they didn't seem to sell international tickets (or i was doing something wrong). i don't buy the ticket beforehand as i'm not sure the day/time i return.

Apart from the Allegro service in Italy ( connecting to Austria ), there is now a new Thello service to Paris and other French destinations. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thello
Rates per passenger per trip, all taxes except optional travel insurance.
Cabin bed, breakfast is included.
Smart & Go tariffs are valid for reservations no later than 7 days before departure. Limited seats, offers subject to conditions.

| | | Italian trains "super-saver"
I'm thinking of visiting Italy in the summer and was checking train prices between different cities and came across a pretty great offer: travel between major cities for only 9 Euros. Last summer the price between Rome and Florence for instance was between 33 and 55 Euros if I remember correctly.
So anyway thought I'd post the link in case it proves helpful to other EFers http://www.trenitalia.com/cms/v/inde...003f16f90aRCRD
(If the link doesn't work, go to: http://www.trenitalia.com/, select english language, and then "Offers and deals")
Kash.
