I have friends over for a week with 4 kids (aged 8 to 13). I'm getting out of Zurich early on Saturday. Does anyone have ideas for a kid-friendly hike (or walk) in the country within a few hours train ride of Zurich?
Or alternatively- given the recent poor weather- any wet weather kid-friendly ideas for Saturday?
How about Tierpark Goldau
It's a Zoo, but a bit different...more wild life experience.
Some animals like deer and goats are freely walking around
and can be fed by the children. We went there with our visitors
and kids and they loved it.
If the weather's fine try Kerenzerberg. Take the 2-seater chairlift up the mountain. Toboggan (= Rodelbahn) down to the middle station and roll down the rest of the way on a scooter (= Trotinett). Prices here.
We took our kids (4 and 7) up to Klosters and Flumserberg last weekend and hiked with them there.
We had a really great walk from the top of the cable car which goes up from Tannenboden, back down to the start. - there are grillplatz on the way and a nice cafe on a lake a bot more than half way down - if the weather improves again.
You could go to the Wildpark Langenberg, a native wildlife zoo with no entrance fee, and do a small hike starting from there. It's of course a better experience if the weather is nice. Here's a map link of the location.
