Hi all,
I'm thinking of planning a day trip in September to celebrate my birthday (I'll be 31). I'm rather stumped for ideas though... despite having lived here nearly 2 years (and having come here for summer holidays for something like 10 times before that), I don't know Switzerland that well..
I'm in Vaud, near Lausanne, and I have an abonnement general, so transportation costs aren't an issue. Money is... I don't have much of it - which is why I'm asking now so I can put some aside!
I've 'done' (as a child / teenager) the Matterhorn, Zermatt, the Jungfrau (well, think it might have been the Jungfrau joch), and that train that goes through the Eiger. Oh, and I've been for a swim in Lake Thun (and have photographic evidence - blame the Chalet School books for that moment of madness!). Apart from one trip to Kandergrunt, we spent most of our holidays in Vaud / Valais (Crans Montana, Villars and Nendaz especially). So I'd like to go somewhere I haven't been... but that I can get there-and-back in a day.
Oh, and I'm not very sporty so please no suggestions for activities requiring extensive physical exercise!
Thanks...
