Well that was an exciting day!
Decided to take my visiting daughter and our grandchildren (ages 1,1Twins,6,10) up Mt Titlis (Engleberg) for the day.
Some idiot in the down car pulled the emergency handle . The emergency stop and subsequent swinging was exciting enough. The 4 hour wait with hungry babies was baad. Then the winch down (guessing about 100ft), the drive up to a ski lift in a trailer behind a tractor up a *very* steep slope, the ski lift down, to the gondalbahn was all a bit of an adventure for them, although the poor 6yo was really scared bless him. 10 yo was justpeevedabout missing the ice cave etc at the top.

They tried to insist on looking after us but I needed to get the babies home, and besides, my wife was doing my favourite fish pie for tea.

Managed to get a refund but a bit of a waste of a day for the kids who fly back in the morning. Even those on the way down who had been to the top got a refund, I just hope the idiot who pulled the handle got fined.

I think yesterday in south Germany a guy using a parachute went into one of the cars, and jammed the mechanism. They were stuck there for many hours, and had to be air lifted, it was on the Swiss news today. http://www.20min.ch/news/kreuz_und_q...amste-24364325

Oh thanks, didnt think of searching news, i was looking for japanese twitter postings (our cabin was almost all japanese tourists). The other one looked bad too, luckily in our case it wasn't quite long enough to cause a toilet problem, although nappy changes were required once we got down.
Also said 50 m so more like 150ft wow.
