Hi,

We have spend the last months preparing for the move to CH and have not yet spend much time in the "tourist section".

Our son would really like to see/feel the snow in the summer. Therefore, can anyone recommend the closest/easiest to reach snow coming from Zurich area ? I am aware of Titlis, which comes with an expensive cable car ride. Are there perhaps other options not too far which can be (partially) accessed by car?

I have searched the forum but most threads seem to be about the great scenery, that should be nice as well, but the main thing is snow. (we also have a 1 year old, so a long hike to a gletcher might be tricky)

Basically, you will have to go REALLY high.

It's not so much a question of how close to Zurich, but accessible peaks (for a child) that will be over 3,000m

With a child that young, I still think that the 'titlis' is still your best option.

How long are you here for?

If you could wait a couple of months or so then you'll (hopefully) get all the snow you could possibly wish for.

At this time of the year there is generally now snow apart from jungfraujoch, zermatt and saas fee. Next weekend im going to saas fee with my buddies to ski

I agree that Titlis is the best option. Snow is guaranteed and there are lots of activities there.

You really need to be around 3000m at this time of year to be sure of snow.

Glacier 3000 near Gstaad is another option but that is a fair bit further from Zurich

We will be here for some time, so in the winter we will be in the snow for sure.
We just moved from Toronto area so we are used to have plenty of snow in the winter. My son (almost 6) is fascinated by the snowy mountains we can see at the horizon (no mountains in Toronto, just snow), so we thought it should be nice to drive to the snow so he can have a look at it. We had done something similiar (before he was born) in Sierra Nevada in Spain, so I was just curious what the options are. But it seems to be Titlis or a much longer drive/hike/etc.

The attached map is the best I can find that identifies the higher mountains easily. Titlis is just below the 'R' of Switzerland. It is the nearest accessible mountain over 3000m. There is plenty at Titlis to amuse a six-year-old.
