Is Le Chaux du Fonds in Southern Switzerland?

A spin-off from the SBB campaign thread, southern Switzerland is Lake Geneva & surrounding areas. And contrary to some EF members suggestions, this regions people are very intelligent people.

In comparison to German speaking region

I'm confused why the title is about a little town in Neuchâtel, but then you talk about some insignificant places near Genf.

What? Are you kidding?

Watch design, manufacturing, etc etc of Longines + & the masses of industrial history & nano engineering there makes it insignificant?

Re: Is Le Chaux du Fonds in Southern Switzerland?

This thread is confusing me
I must fall into the seriously intellectually impaired southerner category that Porsch alluded to in the other thread.

Are you referring to Geneva as insignificant or La Chaux de Fonds?

According to my map La Chaux de Fonds is definately in the northern half of the country.

Re: Is Le Chaux du Fonds in Southern Switzerland?

Le Chaux du Fonds (6.83, 47.1) is in Western Switzerland. It is more North than Luzern (8.3, 47.05) - and level with Kussnacht SZ.

So definitely not Southern.

Next question?

And for those of you who live in the heathen and cannibalistic Eastern and central Switzerland, here's the Wikipedia page:

Wikipedia reference-linkLa_Chaux-de-Fonds

And looking at the map, I would say it is further north than it is south.

Yeah if you went any further west you'd be in France with the frogs.

I was belittling Genefa and defending the geographical location of La Chaux de Fonds. My humor doesn't translate apparently (again).

In a world with only North and South, I am not sure they are offering you an option of West......but if they were, you would be right.

Looks more like Antarctica to me. I mean, if you actually bother looking closely at a map.

And I hate to be pedantic (no I don't, I love it), but it's "La Chaux-de-Fonds".

Re: Is Le Chaux du Fonds in Southern Switzerland?

For arguments sake - from North to South Switzerland is about 47.81 to 45.83 latitude.

It would be fair to say anything North of 46.82 is in the Northern half - and anything south of it is in the Southern half.

You decide where that puts L-F-d-C @ 47.1

...but are you sure? It makes people unsure because in many peoples heads it is in the south (west sort of).

Well just yours really.
Everybody else seems to think it's in the northern half (just) but very definitely in the west.
