I've not been able to find a pick-your-own apple orchard with google and am wondering if there are any around here or, even better, around the Konstanz area in Germany where it seems like there are more apple trees than people.

It might still be too early to harvest apples, and I have never seen a pick your own apple farm offer.

I think the farmers might prefer to hire organised work gangs than to hang around the farm gate waiting for an EF member to arrive.

Jucker in Uster lets you pick your own cherries and strawberries, and they have apple orchards as well so perhaps they would let you pick your own?

For Germany/Konstanz, Mundraub is an awesome website which tracks "herrenlose" fruit-bearing trees (ownerless or stray, I guess) to encourage people to go pick and not let the fruit rot and go to waste.

Like Jucker, there's also "public" farms near Konstanz you could ask, such as Gut Huegle.
