Had a fantastic day on Thursday in Charmey. Bought day tickets for 48CHF- to include return trip to the top (Vounetz) with Gondola- local produce tester meal at the summit restau = mini soup, mini macaroni cheese, a platter of cold meats and cheeses, a small quiche- followed by a small meringue, 'bricelet' (local biscuit) filled with local clotted cream, and a small slice of 'vin cuit' (cooked wine) tart. After the 2 hour streneous walk on the Aiguilles Vertes path - very well deserved. Also included was a 3 hour visit to the Bains de Charmey, the beautiful local spa (including sauna (1 with and one without), hamam). Excellent value, which combined with a visit in the morning to Gruyères village would make a brilliant day out for anybody in the Lausanne/Vevey/Montreux/Neuchatel area.

Anthony, go on and try it! Also went over the Jaun pass to Spiez and Thun, walked the Gorges de la Jogne from Broc to Charmey, 1 day in Gruyères and 1 day to do Rougemont, Saanen, Gstaad and over Jaun again. My (British) friend pushed this little guy as he was blocking her way out of the restau in Gstaad- totally oblivious to the fact he was Polanski- the look he gave her, lol. Yes, a fantastic week. BTW went to Bulle one afternoon and found it to be a very pleasant little town - and wondered why you hate it so much?!

Honest, you might get to appreciate the area a lot more if you explored a bit more. Bonne chance xx

If you get off the gondola half way up, there's also a seilpark (rope walkways up in the trees) - always good fun, for whole family entertainment.

And also the fat tyres 'trotinettes' - which looked great fun- also at mid-point.
