Re: SBB Duo Tageskarte available again

I'm looking at these on the post.ch website and cannot tell if I need to specify a particular day ahead of time or not? Also, are they only available through the mail or can I print them out?

Re: SBB Duo Tageskarte available again

It looks like the options are to have them posted to you or to collect from a post office.

I don't get the impression there is any need to specify a date - presumably you just stamp them before getting on your first train of the day, like with a normal Tageskarte. Haven't actually seen one though, so I may be wrong.

I used one the last time they were available. Bought them off a Post counter. No need to specify any date while buying. You need to validate it on the day or travel. It is valid from Mon-Fri after 0900 and anytime on Sat,Sun. It is undoubtedly the best SBB offer I have ever come across, provided you have a partner/friend travelling along and atleast one holds a Halftax card (who doesn't keep a Halftax in die Schweiz?!).

Saw the info about this today on Swiss Post's twitter. Ordered two online immediately, and am getting them delivered home for free

P.S. You can buy them till June 30th, 2012 (if they last till then) and have to use them by July 8th, 2012.

Thanks for sharing.
Could you provide the link for buying it, please? I cannot find any information on the website of swiss post.

Re: SBB Duo Tageskarte available again

Young people: perhaps the FerienPass ( Holiday Pass ) gives better value, at least in ZH:

http://ausflugstipps.zvv.ch/zvv_ferienpass_de.cfm

Maybe Basel has an equivalent program.

Re: SBB Duo Tageskarte available again

Just wondering - are there any special trains with particularly posh first class cabins? (I've been extremely happy with the second class so far, but in case there's something truly spectacular out there, I guess a tageskarte for two at 99 CHF would provide a perfect opportunity to check it out...)

I would take the TGV to to the end of the border, the ICE, the Austrian Railjet ( 1st classers get refreshments ) and probably the Italian Eurocity south. Hmmm .. perhaps also the Bernina, Glacier and Golden Pass Panaroma trains too.

Re: SBB Duo Tageskarte available again

You can take the TGV from Zurich to Basel, then the ICE to Interlaken, connect to the Golden Pass Train to Luzern, head to Lugano (with the EC), connect to a bus to the bernina express(take the bernina express from Tirano to Chur, connect there back to Zurich) and end your tour de suisse back in zurich.

Re: SBB Duo Tageskarte available again

What does it mean that one of the travelers need a halbtax card? do you need it to order it? or do you need it while traveling?

I have a friend with a halbtax card who can order it for me, but he wont be with me all day while I'm traveling.

Well, that sounds very good! Just checking, though - has anyone here actually taken the ICE or TGV with the 1st class Tageskarte? And if yes, how was the service in their experience? I'm asking since I've been told that TGV, for example, only serves complimentary meals to international travellers, and not to domestic ones.

Last edited by Muuvaara; 28.05.2012 at 11:02. Reason: changed ICE to TGV

Can your children travel with you for free with this offer (assuming those over six have a Junior card)?
