On Top of EasyJet

Happy weekend!

I'm settling down in Basel now and start to plan my trips for the rest of the year (yes, a bit late tho) when I realise that EasyJet wouldn't take me anywhere in Europe from Basel.

I wonder what would be the best alternatives then if I want to go to Prague or Athens for example where there is no direct flight with EasyJet?

Are you sure? They are starting flights to Tenerife soon for instance. Edit, just checked - 30 European destinations from Basel!

Probably cheapest to go via London if you can book in advance. Geneva is a Hub for Easyjet however flying to London is often cheaper!

Walk? Cycle? Go by car? Take a train? Use another airline?

You wrote 'wouldn't take my ANYWHERE IN EUROPE'- so they don't go to Athens or Prague, but to 30 other European destinations. For Prague, if you have the time, take the train - lovely journey.

Re: On Top of EasyJet

If you book early enough 'real' airlines can be just as cheap as budget carriers like EasyJet.
Plus you get free beer on the plane (e.g. when flying Swiss).

Just to be safe, can i stop over at London while holding a Schengen visa? Do I need to apply for UK transit visa?

Re: On Top of EasyJet

UK is not part of the Schengen Zone. Depending on your passport, you might need a transit or visitor visa to the UK.

Re: On Top of EasyJet

Good luck on applying through World Bridge Services, on behalf on the UK Border Ageny - EUR99 payable online, make an appointment and lodge your set of papers.

https://www.visainfoservices.com/Pages/dest_org.aspx

Quote:

Steps to apply for a visa

  1. Visit the UK Border Agency website, as indicated above, and complete your application.
  2. Make an appointment to visit either a visa application centre or mobile biometric clinic (where available).
  3. Attend your appointment to submit your biometrics information (and any required documentation).
  4. Your visa application and documents will be reviewed by the UK Border Agency and they will make a decision on issuing a visa.
  5. Your documents are ready to be returned to you.

WorldBridge manages the visa application centres here in Switzerland. Applicants in Switzerland who want to apply for a visa to enter the UK must submit their application at the visa application centre in Geneva or Zurich.
You might be keen on going to Aruba from London Gatwick, utilising your Swiss permit.

I like EasyJet, but Air Berlin is worth looking at, http://www.airberlin.com/site/start....G=deu&MARKT=DE
