Favorite Motorcycle Ride This Summer?

This weekend we drove from Neuchatel through Chateau-d'Oex, Gstaad, Valais, up to Leukerbad and back, and then through Brig and over Grimselpass, before making our way back along Interlaken, and through Friborg. It was incredible, and my first high mountain pass on a motorcycle...the mountain was this bright apple green colour, contrasted with the rusty oranges of autumn...I felt like I was on another planet.

What's been your favorite ride this year? Go on, inspire us...

Pretty much the same, actually. ;-) About 2 or 3 weeks ago, I did a two-day ride down to the Grimselpass, along the Rhone and over to Montreaux. That part was nice.

The next day we cross the hill up out of Montreaux, went through Gruyeres and on to Gstaad, then over to Interlaken, and it was pretty much the most gorgeous ride I've ever been on. The leaves were just barely hinting at change, but the weather was perfect, the roads mostly clear and seemingly built for two wheels, and.. and... and just try it, already.

From Interlaken we came back. See review of part 1. ;-)

The South side of Gotthard is amazing, Naufenen (Nuveno) is also good, I did both last year. For me, so far, the most amazing ride is over Petit St Bernard, on the French/ Italian border. The valley run along Doubs towads the Swiss border is also amazing

Biker prose! I never imagined a poet's sensitive side lurking under all that leather.

(by the way, it was Furkapass, not the Grimsel. Whoops)

Not my favorite, since it is surrounded by mountains you dont get quite the same views as Naufenen or Bernard. Have you tried the Splugen pass yet? Also in the Jura the Sheltenpass is a pretty nice run (and will be open much later in the year if you are still riding then)

Hey glad you enjoyed it - so you went a bit further and didn't come back via Charmey or interlaken.

Yes Odile, we didn't make it all the way back through Charmey, but the rest of the route you suggested was amazing! We loved it...thanks for the tip!

Re: Favorite Motorcycle Ride This Summer?

Best so far for me was a 4 pass day out. Down through Brünig, Grimsel, Furka, then up and over Klausen and home for tea and crumpets :-) Long day but real fun. Scenery was fantastic and we have the videos to prove it :-) Sheltenpass was als o a good day out at the begining of the season, our biggest group this year with 17 bikes :-)
