Looking for the Snow Mountains

It's been quite a while since I used the picture below as my desktop until someone dropped by and asked, "Isn't it somewhere in Switzerland?"

But neither of us had a clue where it actually is.

Looks really nice for a day trip/hiking or so.

Anyone rings a bell?

I could see that. Did you find the original image? It really does look like the foot hills of the Andes, say around Catamarca. Especially that peak in the back.

Go to google. then click on "images". There you can copy/paste the image link or drag the picture into the box and it will look up similar images.

Re: Looking for the Snow Mountains

Tbh, It doesn't look like Norway to me (lived there for 5 years) and I traveled from Kristiansund down south to Svalbard up North not having recalled anything looking like this.

I'm also more towards South America due to the arid landscape at high altitudes.

I'm not convinced either.

I originally thought it was New Zealand - the lake next to Wanaka as I've got a some photos somewhere I took from my paraglider a few years ago and the scenery looks the same.

Re: Looking for the Snow Mountains

Looks like some serious Photoshopping going on there (Mac+U) to push the saturation. Maybe a bit of orange into the mix to accentuate the blues and why not go with the Polarising Filter (eh Tom1234?)....

The other reason I thought it was down here in South America is because of the color of the sky. It's very much like that and different than the sky in Europe. It's quite amazing. But of course I'm sure there is some post production processing on it.

A bit heavy handed post-production.

I guess you missed the part where I wrote the sky actually really looks like that. lol. The color as well as the cloud shapes. At sun set there is the amazing pink/orange color too.

Re: Looking for the Snow Mountains

With the lens set at 10mm (and relative low f) the clouds looks real to me.

Not sure that it even has been heavily Photoshop'd other than some adjustments to levels...

It's getting harder and harder to see what is "real" these days
