Romantic mountain hideaway

Hi all. I searched the posts but didn't really find an answer

I am looking for an isolated mountain chalet or cabin with the usual romantic settings like log fire, cozy rugs, etc and I am desperate to get this sorted.
Switzerland or France would be ok for sure but I would appreciate some help or advice finding this please.
Thanks

What about:
http://www.interhome.ch/
or the German one:
http://www.fewo-direkt.de/

Maybe you can find something there.

Like this one:

I agree, though, that it is not so easy to find the "really basic" chalets nowadays.

My advice is be careful. My husband and I were really misled on a place in the mountains. Despite advertising to the contrary, there was no hot water, no I-net, no privacy/locked doors and some random other people living there who shouldn't have been.

I won't even get started on the dirty, smelly rooms.

It doesn't get much cozier and more hideaway than Vitznau.

You might like the shed (bad translation of Spycher - it's really a little cottage) at the Saumertaverne in Gündlischwand. This is near to Lauternrunnen and in the valley so not really up a mountain as such.

The German pages may be more informative.

Re: Romantic mountain hideaway

Are you looking for a week rental or for a night over a weekend or such-like?

And by isolated, do you mean you want to walk 30 minutes to it and see no-one or do you mean a nice quiet mountain village and accommodation that still has food and service laid on?

Thanks all for the responses so far
Weekend would be perfect or an overnighter. Not fussed as long as it's the stereotypical log fire isolated kind of romantic place.
Some good links and advice I will check them out. Thanks so far

Re: Romantic mountain hideaway

Another place that comes to mind is the Guarda Val.

http://www.guardaval.ch/en/hotel-services/rooms.html

The Farmer Suites or the Stailetta in particular might be suitable to be your desires. But not cheap.

Alternatively, we had a fantastic stay at the Couer des Alpes in Zermatt. http://www.coeurdesalpes.ch/d/zimmer...es_zermatt.htm
Very romantic. Old meets modern. A very interesting blend and stunning views.
If considering this hotel, pay extra for one of the suites and ask for a fireplace.

If you are really looking for a place for just the two of you, for the weekend, as in a little self-contained chalet, things get much harder. You practically always have to rent those by the week.

Re: Romantic mountain hideaway

I knew a good one in Allschwil. No log fire, but cosy enough.
