| | | Daughter going to Peru, what should we prepare for?
Daughter #1 (will be 14 by the time she goes) and a friend have been invited to Peru to celebrate one of her best friend's 15th birthday. This is a huge event for Peruvian girls, so I hear, and it seems my daughter and the other friend will be guests of honour, travelling in the limo etc . The birthday girl's family will accompany them during the flight and the girls will stay with them for a month near Lima (lucky little sods ). We have spoken to the family and agreed for her to go. It will be a wonderful experience for her and we know the parents, who are delightful, will look after her very well. I think it's a fantastic opportunity for a girl of her age and she is really excited about it.
I'm just wondering what she can expect, what to look out for, recommended vaccinations etc. I know a lot of information is available online, but would be nice to hear from "sources on the ground" etc.
We will bloody miss her though.

I wish I'd had a friend like that when I was 14.
Sorry no practical advice to give. |

Sorry no practical advice to give. | | | | | Me too, but there weren't many Peruvians living in North Cornwall at the time.

oh dear lord No!!! Not the Quinceañera!!!!!
Ugh. It's like a Bat Mitvah, or a Débutante Ball, but for Catholic Latinas on their 15th birthday. Totally nauseating and an unnecessary expenditure of capital.
But that's just my expert opinion. Let's see what Angela says.

Bravo to the parents for letting your daughter go. This will be a defining moment in her life. I am sure she will look back this with great appreciation.
Good on you.

Peru is not Africa.
I would say to take some first aid kit and normal medicines (she is not going alone but for a family house so not so important).
If it is only one month she should be fine.
Also you can ask the family what usually they previne for.
Is your daughter:
allergic to seafood?
bees?
Because in Peru as in Portugal they should eat fish and seafood or not?
The rest will be ok.

Later, she'll strip him of his manhood and make him do chores. | | The following 3 users would like to thank KeinFranzösisch for this useful post: | |
