The Ballon d'Alsace is nice to drive around, IIRC (it has been seven years since I was there), there are some cute restaurants and cafes to grab lunch.

Come down to sunny [well, wet, windy, wild and wintry at the moment] Evian. Lots of lovely things to do and see - you can also shop at many different supermarkets [please send a private EM for a list and directions]. Makes for a fantastic day out, especially the last section driving around the lake.

Colmar is lovely (already mentioned by another poster). I like Mulhouse - they have a good Christmas market too.
Both are very close to Zurich!
Further afield, Dijon is also worth checking out.
