Hi there - we're looking to head away the weekend and wondering which of these to pick. Are living in Zurich and have seen quite a bit of the country, but been to none of these. Won't be skiing or hiking at the moment.

Interested in places with stuff to see (sights) and things to do. Also places that are nice to chill and walk around (Eg old town etc). Have a car so could do spots nearby / on way too.

If you were us, which of these would you pick for a weekend away from Zurich and why?

Lausanne its just beautiful!!!!!

Im living in Basel and i really think there is nothing to see. Bern its ok, lot of churchs and beautiful buildings.

I would recommind you first lausanne, its just beautiful place, the river side its just amazing, (i went in summer i guess now in winter would be nice), and next station Bern.

I disagree, there's Wasserfallen, the Zoo, Fondation Beyeler, the Puppenhaus Museum, Lange Erlen animal park, Grün 80 park,the Münster Promenade, the ferries crossing the Rhein, ship trips along the river, around 30 different museums, the Dreiläandereck (corner where 3 countries meet) etc.

If you're into museums and art galleries, Basel all the way.

If you prefer walking around outside in a town admiring the view, then Lausanne.

Bern has ha lot to offer, e.g. the museum of communication (to me one of the best museums of Switzerland), a beautiful old town, plenty of concerts

For me, Basel without a doubt. The best, in my opinion, museums in the country. And I love the cathedral and the walk along the river. And the old cobblestones in places. And the color of the facades.
Never lived there, though.
