Re: Biking in Basel / Alsace region

1s answer: www.google.com/search?q=fahrradwege+basel
(the second result: http://dsb.z-online.ch/upload/DSBUse...gion_Basel.pdf is not very professional, but quite interesting regarding the cost of the time spent on finding it )

If you want a better answer, you must tell what do you mean "biking" and "route": are you looking for a full day totally off road mtb trip or a 2h flat route combined with sightseeing?

There are some nice bike maps available for the whole region. Try Thalia or Bider & Tanner bookshops in Basel for a start.

Re: Biking in Basel / Alsace region

obvious question - biking can be either cycling or motorbiking to me. I'm assuming you mean cycling?

Re: Biking in Basel / Alsace region

You could get in contact with Basel Nutters (http://www.facebook.com/groups/baselnutters/). Many triathletes so running and swimming at the moment, but when the light and temperature is a little more amenable to cycling they do one or two rides each week, often into the Alsace and/or Basel Land.

My favourite was a 90km loop over Passwang. Basel - Aesch - Grellingen - Nunningen - äbi - Neuhüsli - Passwang - Mümliswil-Rämiswil - Langenbruck - Liestal - Basel.

Otherwise just follow your nose, take a GPS to record your route (and maybe get home if you don't see anymore signs back to Basel) and then refine next time

Have a look at www.bikemap.net - helps find bike routes everywhere (or at least where people use GPS. The Garmin Connect site is also useful - you can look without having a Garmin computer.

I tend to ride in the Back Forest because I live on the north side, but there are lots of good cycling routes.

I don't like cycling on the road so we've had some nice rides along the cycling paths on the rhine - up into Germany or crossing over to the Grand Canal in France. Also like to ride along the River Weiss into Lorrach.
