We live in Zurich and want to fly to Cyprus to visit our ralatives who live there. I have problems in finding reasonably priced and most direct flight there (either in Larnaca, or in Paphos) from Zurich, or Basel, or anything else close. Our daughter just turned two, so I guess we will have to pay for 3 tickets now... And she will not like too long transfers.

Any ideas? Maybe some agency would cell charter flight?

Look at the holiday brochures for Cyprus, in low season they will be glad to sell you some seats.

the cheapest are austrian airlines (264 euros return in March), fowllowed by
lufthansa and swiss
cyprus airways seems to fly only once a week to larnaca (starting at 119 euros one way)

Exactly, each... that is what I find until now. Well, for May-June (when we want to fly) it is cheaper, around 490chf each, but I still hoped to find a better offers. Am I too optimistic?

These are 2 VERY good offers. Cyprus airlines might fail before the summer, but Austrian looks good.

I had exactly the same problem from Geneva side. We wanted to go in October last year to stay in a relatives villa, it was so expensive in the end that we had to turn down the offer of the free accommodation.

I think Cyprus is just not a traditional Swiss holiday destination.

Many years ago the Cyprus government refused to allow charter airlines, they saw what was happening in Spain and didn't want cheap holiday makers. So everyone went by scheduled flights.

It seems there might still be a similar mind set with cheap air fares. Maybe you should ask at a travel agent in Zurich, they have better access to cheaper tickets.

When did the Cypriot government ban charter flights? I can't remember a time when Thomson, First Choice and co didn't fly chartered flights there.
