| | | Craving Warm/Beachy PLACE!!
Being from Florida and now living in Zug, the clouds and the cold have had me down for a while. I deal with it fine, but since I know the warm, laying out weather isn't until late June or even July, where do I go???
There is always the Mediterranean, but that is a pretty big category! Does anyone know the perfect place for a three day vacation that usually is cheap to fly to? A place that is beautiful and actually warm by April? I really would hope that by April there is some warm weather to be had somewhere further south. And obviously some places are fancy or popular and flights/accomodation would be expensive! But seriously, any insight, fellow travelers? Where, when and how? What is your go-to affordable weekend trip when you just NEED the sun, water, and heat but it's still spring here in Switzerland?
Thanks so much everyone!!

I am also interested to see what people recommend. I too come from the southern part of the U.S. and am ready for more sun and warmer temps. I have handled all the cold and clouds better than I thought I would but I do get very excited when the sun peaks out and the blue skies shine through! Sorry I don't have anything in response to your actual question other than the ability to commiserate with you! Ready for these again !

Thanks so much everyone!! | | | | | Looking for something similar. Tunesia and Egypt qualify but they are not really countries I want to visit regarding their current political situation.

I've been a couple of times to Tenerife in March and it was quite warm on the beaches.

How about Malta - only two hour's flight from Zurich, sunny virtually all the time, relaxed, friendly, historically interesting, fab food ... We visited Gran Canaria at the end of February and it was warm enough for the beach. I found it very pleasant and not too warm.

Not sure if you have already booked travel but here are some places I have been that I would defiantly recommend.
1) Cinque Terre *Italy (Gets warm by May ) 5 hour drive from Zurich
- very cute costal villages attached by hiking trails along a cliff
Stay in - Monterosso al Mare For the beach (3 days is long enough to see it all / relax for a bit & enjoy some amazing yummy italian food)
2) Almafi Coast (Italy) - more expensive but stunning and warm by end of April
3) Greek Islands- Maybe not a short getaway but def. somewhere you need to see. My favs - Santorini, Milos and Mykonos (Great for vacay May- end Sept.)
4) Castiglione della Pescaia (Italy) - A very nice beach- cheap cabin camping- or stay at a hotel next to the camping for a very clean/ relaxing beach close to a village & nice to go away for some nights to relax. (7 hour drive from Zurich)
Places to go in the winter to escape the cold would probably be Africa - Morroco Egypt or as mentioned before Malta... Potentially southern parts of Spain- but I've never been myself so don't have recommendations.
Ibiza if you are looking to party... Could also be an option.
Hope this helps!

I am off to Thailand for 2 weeks in April.
Gonna be REALLY HOT.
Canary Islands is OK.Spent 2 weeks there one December.
Has a moderate climate year round.Would not go back though.
Just black sand on the beaches and lots of places to eat.
A bit boring but OK for 3 days I guess.
If you looking for a party place then I could definitely recommend Ibiza.
I been there a total of 6 weeks already.
Should be quite warm already in April but the summer season really starts in May.
