We are interested in renting an apartment for next winter and have just visited Morzine. It is great for young families (which is us), albeit slightly crowded. I have heard great things also about Les Gets which is the same skiing. Anyone stayed in both villages and have a preference?

Other suggestions welcome for a closeby ski resort (to Geneva) with plenty of blue runs and good for young children.

Morzine.

The resorts are low down, and so the snow can be a bit unreliable. Last time I was there, the main blues low down in Les Gets were ice at the top and slush at the bottom because they had been in full sun. The ones in Morzine were shaded however, and were in much better condition. The beginners' area in Les Gets is a bit bigger though, if the children are just starting out.

Still, it's easy enough to get from one to the other.

We visited that area a few weeks ago with our kids and a group of friends. We rented a chalet about 5-10 minutes drive from Morzine (15-20 to Les Gets). My preference would be for Les Gets (less crowded than Morzine) and good for younger children if you want to stay in a town.
We travelled to a different area each day either by car or bus and skiied from one resort to another. Depends what you want from your holiday.
