Family friendly places to visit in germany

Hi yall,
The hubby and I are thinking of taking our two kiddos to Germany for a visit. Anybody know of kid friendly places to visit, castles, etc. Should we use the train to get there or rent a car?

More information needed! How old are the kiddies? How far you willing to go?

Legoland and Europa Park are kid specific places to visit.

Castles there are lots ot these scattered across the country depending on age you may get I'm bored or I love this!!

Re: Family friendly places to visit in germany

They are 4 and 7. We are living in Zug and are willing to travel pretty much anywhere. We don't have a car but could rent one if it were to help with the travel.
thanks in advance

Friedrichshafen?

Zeppelin Museum, nice park with a little beach on Lake Constance and a promenade with lots of ice-cream parlours and restaurants for a lakeside dinner. You can get there easily by public transport too - train to Konstanz, then catamaran over the lake (which is fun in itself).

I haven't been there yet myself, but there is a huge aquarium in Konstanz, right on the lake:

I plan to take our little boy there someday, once he's a bit older.

Re: Family friendly places to visit in germany

Our kids loved Ravensburger Spieleland (www.spieleland.de) and Legoland. They are both theme parks aimed at up to about 12 years old. Ravensburger is less of a journey, I think it was about 2.5 hours drive. I think Legoland is about 4 hours.

A decent resource if you are into World Heritage stuff ( DE has 37 of them ).

My favourite - North towards Denmark.

Wow, such great ideas!
Our favourite is Laguna spa with great slides: http://www.laguna-badeland.de/

It is right at the border near Basel, in Weil am Rhein.

Re: Family friendly places to visit in germany

I would definitely rent a car with two little kids!
Much more comfortable, you can carry lots of this and that, clothes to change, you don't have to wait, and it is cheaper.
