We had a wonderful day out today in Amden, hiking all around (even foregoing the chairlift to start the hike). It got us to thinking about what we should do with some out of town guests that are obsessed with the idea of fondue hiking in Switzerland.

We stopped at various places along the during the hike, and while various places had some lovely Rosti options (but not terribly friendly for vegetarians), no place had fondue. While I personally would skip fondue during the summer, in an effort to meet the hopes and dreams of our out-of-town guests, can anyone here recommend a good hike and/or a good location out in the country (but near Zurich) to combine with good fondue?

I've seen other threads for fondue in Zurich, and while that's lovely, that's not what we're quite shooting for given that we're hoping to combine it with a bit of a hike in the mountains with some lovely views.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I was just looking for the same information. The fondue is so heavy-meal that a long walk is needed before or after (or even better before AND after)...!

Last winter, we got bundled up and met with some friends in the woods near Zurich and had a bonfire and sipped spiced wine. Then we walked a few kilometers through the woods, carrying torches, and ended at a really nice and cozy fondue restaurant. It was such a fun night...

I'll ask my husband later what the place was named, and if he remembers, I'll post it later.

Would love to do something like that again this winter.
