I have the opportunity to visit a friend for two days in Cork, but the only flights I am finding leave Zurich and/or land in Dublin, which takes a lot of extra time on a train, essentially cutting a quarter of my time away from the trip. Are there airlines that actually fly into Cork or Shannon from Geneva, and I am just not having any luck finding them?
I did do a search of the forums, and found a post from a few years ago, but there wasn't much info there, plus it is outdated now.
Any help would be appreciated. Oh, and the trip would be Sept 11-13, so I need to find options quickly. Thank you in advance.
Thanks, but perhaps I should have been more specific. I am looking for direct flights. I am able to find some flights that have layovers in London, and the total flight time is around 23-25 hours. Clearly, for a two-day trip, these options are not feasible.
Yes, unfortunately there is no direct flights to Cork from Switzerland. There is a Cork-Geneva flight during the ski season but obviously does not help you for September. I think flights from Dublin to cork no longer run either, but there is quite a good express bus service from Dublin airport to Cork city centre - (aircoach.ie - regular, free wireless, comfortable enough), it still takes about 3 and a half hours each way so it is a lot of travel time for just the weekend..
Thank you for the feedback, everyone. I was afraid that I was going to be out of luck, and you have confirmed it for me. Looks like I will have to be content hanging out in Ireland for a longer period of time. What a pity.
Try www.hipmunk.com - I've found it to be good for showing quickest routes/cheapest price for journeys that require connections. A quick search shows a 5hr 25min route changing at Amsterdam. Not cheap though...
