Sorry. I didn't use the best words to explain myself.
It seems from your reply that I gave the impression of banning something. Not at all! All boardgames have a space here. Backgammon included. As I said, this is an opportunity to come and find people with the same interests.
Personally (and that means only me) I played a few times a lot of years ago and I didn't get hooked. Could be because of a bad introduction to the game or my own ignorance. But this does not imply that people cannot come and play Backgammon (myself included), or chess, or go. A nice thing of having an association like this one is to try different games that you might never played before o never thought about.
My background is based in strategy, work-placement, resources management, deck-building, etc... So I might be a bit biased to that kind of games. For that reason, it would be good to count with someone to bring to the table the classic games. Even more if is used to competitive playing as I think you are.
The idea of making an association is to meet with people, talk about games, share experience and play! No matter what.
