just got the Swiss Tourism newsletter and thought this could be of some interest :
With the holiday passport, you can travel throughout Switzerland this fall at an extremely
low price: from 129 francs on four flexibly chosen days, from 199 francs for 15 days in a row.
Thanks to the holiday passport, you can travel the length and breadth of Switzerland and get on and off public transport services
as you wish. You can enjoy unlimited travel on trains, postbuses and boats. Moreover, you’ll benefit from discounts on many
Swiss mountain railways. By the way: if you’d like to stay overnight as you tour through Switzerland, Switzerland Tourism
has a wide selection of attractive hotel offers for you.
There is a decent offer ( 50% off ) in Bellinzona, TI ( GA / Tageskarte holders pay CHF7.60 and seniors half of that ). Valid until end September though apart from many other tempting offers to use the GA / Holiday Passport.

The companion ticket offers you the opportunity to accompany the holder of a GA travelcard, 1-day travelpass for the Half-Fare travelcard or 9 o’clock travelpass for the Half-Fare travelcard for one whole day – for just 33 francs.
If you have friends and acquaintances travelling in Switzerland with a GA travelcard, a 1-day travelpass for the Half-Fare travelcard or a 9 o’clock travelpass for the Half-Fare travelcard, the companion ticket lets you come along for the ride: on journeys by train, postbus and boat. You can get on and off public transport services as you wish.
Important information about the companion ticket.
The companion ticket can be used on all routes within the GA area of validity.
The companion ticket is available up to 31 October 2012.
The companion ticket is valid for the same class in which the holder of the 1-day travelpass or GA travelcard is travelling.
Each person may be accompanied by only one person using a companion ticket.
I believe it is unlimited as is a GA, HT etc. all days and all hours.
[QUOTE=jrspet;1665890]I believe it is unlimited as is a GA, HT etc. all days and all hours.
So, when I read this thread awhile back, I assumed that my husband could get the 1st class Flexi Holiday Passport and that I could get the Companion pass, allowing us to both travel four days in 1st class for something like 42 chf/person/day. We want to use that combination this weekend and now I cannot find that explicitly stated in the fine print - everything just refers to GA,
HT, etc. Does anyone know?
Does anyone know for sure if the companion ticket can be used in combination with one of the commune day passes?
I need two tickets for my visiting parents and can get my hands on one commune ticket so was hoping I this might work but don't want them to have any problems on the trains!

OK, I answered my question for myself.....
There are some important points missing from the english terms and conditions (they appear on the French ones and can be translated as follows):
You cannot combine this offer (the companion ticket) with: - Migros special day pass - Duo de La Poste day pass - Commune day pass - Vacation Passport
