Alpine cattle descent

Hi everyone,

there's quite a few alpine cattle descents going on next weekend (where the cows come down from the mountains for the winter), but I wondered if anyone could recommend one? Would prefer one near-ish to Zurich.

Here's the ones I found on the Swiss Tourism website:

22.09.12 Bühler Cattle show in Bühler www.appenzellerland.ch
22.09.12 Ennetbürgen Big alpine descent of the cattle at Ennetbürgen www.ennetbuergen.ch
22.09.12 Flims Laax Falera 6th traditional Flimserstein Alpine descent http://www.flims.com/
22.09.12 Flums Descent of the cattle festival Flums http://www.schaellnerclub.ch
22.09.12 Gais Cattle show in Gais www.appenzellerland.ch
22.09.12 Kerns Big Desalpe www.melchsee-frutt.ch
22.09.12 Plaffeien Plaffeien Alpine Descent www.schwarzsee.ch
22.09.12 Savognin Alpabzug Parsonz www.savognin.ch
22.09.12 Schüpfheim Alpine Descent, Sörenberg - Schüpfheim www.biosphaere.ch
22.09.12 Sörenberg Desalpe www.soerenberg.ch

Mooo-ny thanks in advance.

Hrm.. I've been pondering what to do for my birthday this year. This may just win out over going to the chocolate factory in Gruyere.

Then again, maybe I can do both?

Re: Alpine cattle descent

We are going to try to get to the one at Charmey, 29th September.

There is a bus from there, 10 minutes to the chocolate factory Nestle-Cailler.

Re: Alpine cattle descent

I found this on another thread:

http://www.glarona.ch/glarneralpchaesmaert.html

For the 7th of October.

Does anyone know of any other places having the event on the 7th or the weekend of the 13th/14th of October?

No. November is far too late to stay on an Alp.

I think the descents are over, but maybe someone knows better. (I think the beginning/mid-October is the end of the season).

There is an Alpine Cheese Festival - where there is cheese, there are cows? http://www.myswitzerland.com/en/serv...t-4990059.html
