| | | Ryanair: Non-EEU passport holder cannot online-checkin
Hi,
I am holding a non-EEU passport and got a B permit. Now I booked the air tickets to Spain from Ryanair company.
But Ryanair says that they only accept EEU passport, but isn't a Swiss B permit is valid to travel to Spain? I am trying to contact them, but there is no customer service contacting number.
Any one here has experience about Ryanair? And how should I check-in ?
Thank you very much.

B permit is valid in CH.
You need an acceptable Travel Document as airlines will refer to TIMATIC if you can board or not. http://www.timaticweb.com/ | | This user would like to thank jrspet for this useful post: | |

Refer to Ryanair's T&C: http://www.ryanair.com/en/terms-and-conditions
They will accept your passport. Residence permits, regardless of your status, are not valid. Your permit shows your status within Switzerland/Schengen area, but you must travel with your passport.

I just want confirm that I would not be charged for unknown additional fees.

If you are non EU/EFTA, be sure you go to their visa check desk (see here) and get their stamp (after check-in - which you will do at home anyway, before security). They will gleefully deny you boarding if you do not.

Or I still need to require a visa to Spain?

If you do not have a valid visa then you may not be allowed to board the plane or turned back at passport control in Spain. Or am I misunderstanding the situation?

If you are from a country that Spain requires to have visas to visit then yes, you had better make sure you have a valid visa before you travel. As baboon says, "make sure your passport shows you as able to enter Spain." That way you are covered, B-permit or not. |

Try this ( as a substitute for TIMATIC ): http://www.iatatravelcentre.com/
As a non-EU with a Swiss C permit, I can't check-in online with say Wizz Air and have to proceed to the check in desk for a doco check. I do not have this issue with SWISS or some other carriers. Each carrier checks with TIMATIC.

Show these at the Ryanair Visa counter and they will stamp your boarding pass.
In case your B permit has gone for renewal or something and you do not have the card then you will need a visa from the canton office (retour visa - that is another topic/thread).
However Non EU residents in Switzerland who have a B permit are legally allowed to travel to Spain and Ryanair cannot deny you boarding.
Just go to the airport early enough so you have time for any of these formalities... Have fun in Spain...

oh btw - online check in might not work, but the traditional method of check in at the airport will still work. I faced that challenge when I traveled to the US as well last year. Online check in wasn't allowed for Non EU passport holders

I've just tried online check-in and succeed. It seems that non-EU can also online check-in for the moment. |

You are checked in but you do (according to FR) need to go to the visa check desk.
Google "Ryanair visa check" and "denied boarding" to find out what happens otherwise....

| | | Re: Ryanair: Non-EEU passport holder cannot online-checkin http://www.ryanair.com/en/questions/...nline-check-in | Quote: | | | | IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL NON EU/EEA PASSENGERS
Irrespective of a passenger's visa requirements, all non EU/EEA citizens must have their travel documents checked and online boarding pass stamped at the Ryanair Visa/Document Check Desk before going through airport security.
All non EU/EEA passengers must do this in order to ensure compliance with immigration authorities.
RYANAIR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CANCEL YOUR RESERVATION WITHOUT REFUND AND TO DENY YOU BOARDING IF YOU DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE ABOVE REQUIREMENT | | | | | Much the same with me ( non-EU ) and Wizz Air, online check-in with boarding pass issued but needed to verify documents at airport desk first and get a stamp. Fortunately Wizz Air did not charge for this document security check.

Denying boarding without a visa check doesn't sound unreasonable.
If you are denied entry at the other end due to invalid visa then the airline is fined.
