[Kilchberg, ZH] Lindt factory help

Anyone been on the tour there an if so, do you know if it's still running and worth going?
It's Mrs Boris' birthday tomorrow and I thought it might make a nice surprise.

Re: [help!] Lindt factory, Kilchberg

I don't know about the factory but I do know that you can by 300 g of pralines for less than 4 CHF in the factory shop there. That should be worth a trip in itself I would say :-)

Re: [help!] Lindt factory, Kilchberg

I did the Lindt factory tour several years ago when we had visitors. However, having read the following thread, it seems that such tours are no longer available .....

Chocolate factory in Zurich?

I think they still are available. At least a friend of mine went there just before Xmas to buy some chocolates...
Have you checked their website?

Re: [help!] Lindt factory, Kilchberg

I think I saw some banners at Sihlquai from where they advertise about the guided tours to the choclate factory
I would assume it is this factory. Why dont you check out there?
Else I would be passing by HB tommorow and will ask out and update this thread.

They do not give official public tours of the factory, though have a small museum-like room instead

Hi
Tigerli is right they do not do tours any more as people were stealing their ideas. Thats what a woman at the factory shop told us last year

Indeed, I've heard that the owner has had problems with their workers stealing the ideas too. So he has locked the doors and imported some short funny people who sing whimsical songs, to replace them.

Re: [help!] Lindt factory, Kilchberg

Irregardless, you can go to the factory and buy chocolate for cheap. It is usually slightly damaged. By this I mean, that certain praline decorations might not have parallel lines or the curly chocolate locks on a truffe du jour might be slightly stunted. Either way, they taste just as good and most people can't even tell.

It is a dangerous place to go to. I have not been in a while due to the fact that my employer keeps giving us chocolates on a regular basis. On x-mas we each get a 7 lbs suitcase full of the likes of Lindt and Sprüngli.

Re: [help!] Lindt factory, Kilchberg

We went anyway, just so Mrs Boris could worship at the shrine to chocolate that is the factory gate.
We hit the factory shop pretty hard. I sent her back in for another go as I felt her first effort at buying chocloate was poor. I saw one guy buy over 20 kilos of those lindor things. I must have racked up the lowest sale of the day at CHF2.45 between myself and the Mk. 1 small person. I noticed that the cashier had the same surname as my boss and I was about to ask 'Do you know...' when it occured to me that if she did know my boss, she would more than likely say something and he would find out that I wasn't ill at home today instead of at work...

Re: [help!] Lindt factory, Kilchberg

According to Lindt's website, there are no more tours. Info about Lindt factory stores: http://www.lindt.com/1610/3429/3455/4299.asp

Cailler's homepage is a flash site so you have to select your language and then "Visit the factory" on the left menu. They give free tours April to the end of October, Monday through Friday. http://www.cailler.ch

Re: [Kilchberg, ZH] Lindt factory help

I went to the Lindt store today. The "exhibition" is closed for renovation, but it you ask about it at the counter, they will give you some chocolate as a consolation prize, so you should definitely do that

Most of the items in the store are regular packaged items, at about 20% off the Coop price. However, they had various specials and deals:

1. combo deals: 50g chocolate bunny (2.75 at Coop) is 2.20, but you can get 5 for 10F
2. out of season: chocolate Santas and other Christmas items were very cheap (more than 50% off) (but Valentine's day items weren't discounted yet (?))
3. bulk packs: fancy pralines in plain 320g bags, 3.90 each or 4 for 12F; 500g Double Lait 7.50
4. seconds as mentioned: Petit Desserts where the filling may be showing (or I think some of them may just be short dated) 1.50 each
5. large prepicked assortments of packaged items - I didn't note the details, but they seemed like good deals if you like the assortment - for me they were too milk chocolate heavy

I found it easy to get there by bus, but note that they only run every half hour, so pay attention to the schedule if you are short of time.

I mean at the receptionist station inside the administrative building. This will also give you a chance to experience some amazing robo-doors and/or use a fantastic bathroom.
