Fastnacht Zug

I know it is very late, but the festivities will kick off today at 2.30 in the town. Apparently the centre is Kolin platz where the bakers guild will be hurling treats at children. I'm getting our girl from school early today.
Bad mummaking her miss some learning for the sake of a bit of cultural knowledge

Just popped to the bank and almost ran over a group of teenagers dressed as giant chickens.....

Re: Fastnacht Zug

I was woken up at 4.30 this morning but some dreadful drum and horn playing, is this normal at this time of year? I guess so!

Better get some make up on and go join them!

Re: Fastnacht Zug

Are there any actual events going on this weekend in Zug?

Aside from random dressing up and hanging round on street corners looking ace.

There was a procession and loads of the bands playing in Zug today - the bus was re-directed.

But in Baar on Saturday and Sunday, I am told there is a bigger event. After all Baar is apparently the turnip capital of the region. The processions start at 1400 and on Saturday it says there are food stalls and bars. Sunday may be the bigger procession. On Saturday at 1900 there is a Konfettischlacht at the Rathausplatz.

Me too, they left by seven though, but various bands have been marching past our office all day.

Get yourself down to Luzern, that's where the real party's at. Tonight should be good, but everyone goes all out for Monday and Tuesday night.

Re: Fastnacht Zug

Yep Baar is pretty lively already - Zug station was interesting when I passed through about half an hour ago as well, live brass drum corps style bands playing to the crowd...pretty cool

According to the signs, the thing really starts going crazy in Baar from the 2nd to the 5th - mind you last night there were sirens and suchlike going on til about 4am, brilliant
