Chalets over Xmas

Hi all

I know I am probably leaving it a bit late and it will be mega expensive but as we are staying in Zurich over Xmas and don't have to go back and do the dreaded family for Xmas in the UK I was thinking it would be great to go away for a few days over Xmas, New Year or in between Xmas and NY. I have been searching the web for some ideas but to be honest have not yet found a decent site that is helpful and informative and all the chalets seem to be huge for 6+ people

If anyone can recommend any good sites or knows of any good places etc.. can you let me know

It would need to allow dogs, but only a wee little doggie like on my avatar

Cheers
Nicky

Tiscover at
This is the one I use for Austria very good last min deals. Längenfeld I can recommend not far from Sölden (Skiing) and this village has a wonderful Aqua Dome / Swimming pool with the hot water straight out of the ground. 3,5 hours from Zürich

Willkommen in Längenfeld

Re: Chalets over Xmas

As you are talking about just two, I assume you mean an apartment as opposed to chalet ? Choose your resort and select ferienwohnungen instead of hotels on the accommodation section of the website. Many of the resorts use the same booking /enquiry software.

I think they may have a "attitude to pets" section in the details of the accommodation too.

Examples : www.davos.ch or www.zermatt.ch

They are surprisingly cheap out of season. Avoid the period immediately after Xmas , and schools the kids have a special ski week in Jan or Feb. (I can't remember exactly when).

Hope this helps

Re: Chalets over Xmas

I generally go to www.solaria.ch because they have apartments ranging from studios right up to the big stuff. They are also one of the few who don't insist on staying for a whole week.

But I've got some bad news for you. You've left it a bit late, and for the really popular times like Christmas even Solaria will insist you stay for a week. For next year, if you plan to do that, get it organised well in advance - like June, and maybe you can get some friends to join you too.

I've stayed in Solaria a lot in winter and summer. Its a bit of a hike to town, but its a flat stagger from the X-bar.
They used to have short vacancies all the time, but now joined the online booking system and so the bargains are not so frequent

Cheers for the info Mark i'll have a look but I expect I have left it too late, we weren't in a postition to look at going away until the past few weeks hence leaving it so late, maybe we'll get lucky and find somewhere. Unfortunately I doubt we'll be able to go away next year don't think we'll be able to avoid going back and doing the family thing in the UK for crimbo
