What to do on a rainy day in Lausanne/Vevey???

I was hoping you could give me some suggestions for what to do on a rainy day. I have family in this week and the rain doesn’t seem to be letting up. I want to make sure I show them a good time while visiting. They don’t seem to be much into the museums…Thanks!

Very interesting; I was watching it on Swiss Train Journeys yesterday. There is the Open Air Museum Ballenberg nearby too......hopefully the rain's stopped by the time you get there

That car show thing is going on in Geneva.

I know you said they aren't much into museums, but the Red Cross Museum is a MUST see I believe. Some things there are quite powerful there.

IF the rain lets up. Signal de Bougy is fun and free. Lots of kids things, but as an adult, I have fun usually. Rip cords and such. And the Aubonne Arboretum is close for some nice nature walking.

If the wind starts to pick up as well as the rain then head down to the lake shore, it can be fun walking along the lake, watching and hopefully avoiding the crashing waves in the rain. Make sure you have hot chocolate ready to go as soon as you get home, or stop in at a cafe.

Re: What to do on a rainy day in Lausanne/Vevey???

When I lived in Corseaux next to Vevey, I would go up, up, up until the clouds looked like balls cotton, but mind you by the time I got up there I had drunk one too many fendants and finished a plate assiette valaisanne and also ended up in Valais, since the clouds always pass straight over that area....

Re: What to do on a rainy day in Lausanne/Vevey???

It's a bit further on down the lake but Chateau Chillon is worth a visit. If you don't want to drive you can take the train from Lausanne to Montreux then if it's fine walk along the lake to Chillon or take the Vevey-Villeneuve bus which runs along the lake. On the way there you see the lakeshore/vineyards and there's quite a lot to see in the Chateau itself. On the way back if the rain isn't too bad you can stop off in Montreux or Vevey for a short walk on the lakefront or maybe stop off for a drink if it's still raining.
